The north-eastern state of Tripura is a beautiful state with rich cultural heritage and history. A relatively smaller state, it boasts of diverse cultures and communities and over the years it has emerged as an attractive tourist destination. There are some beautiful places to visit but it is important to be aware of the temperatures and weather conditions at different times of the year. Being up to date about the weather the conditions will help tourists to plan better and know when it is best to avoid the state.

Summer in Tripura span across two months starting in March and lasting till May. Late April and May are considered the hottest months of the season and temperature rises to around 33°C which compared to other states is quite decent and bearable. Humidity is comparatively higher at 50% which causes some amount of discomfort. It is however important to understand that temperature varies widely across the state due its undulating terrain. So there are regions which experiences cool climate even in the peak of summer.

Monsoon sets in Tripura by end of May and continues till September. All the four months experience rainfall. The South-Westerly winds bring rain to Tripura which get blocked by the hills bringing heavy rain to the windward side. There is news of frequent flooding in the state during these months which cause rivers to overflow and often snaps connectivity with the mainland. Increased rainfall also causes humidity to rise substantially. Monsoon is not considered the best of times to explore the state.

Winter is undoubtedly the best season for visiting Tripura. Winter lasts from November till February and the climate is beautiful. Rainfall is intermittent but not very frequent. Skies are clear most times. Humidity falls drastically hence removing all traces of discomfort. The weather is cool and pleasant with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 30°C. There are early morning fogs and chill in the air but it feels good. It is a great time for exploring the state and engaging in outdoor activities like picnics and camping.
