Summer (March – June)

Summers in Madhya Pradesh are characterized by hot and dry weather owing to its central location in India. The season kicks off from March and stays till the end of June. The weather is scorching during the day and warm during the nights. It is not the ideal time to visit the state because of its dry and fiery climate. That being said, summer is the perfect time to visit the Satpura hills as the temperatures drop due to the increase in altitude. If you live in India and are looking to beat the heat, Pachmarhi is an excellent destination to explore during these sweltering months. Although it could possibly be a good time to visit the Kanha, Pench, and Bandhavgarh National Parks; the tigers and other wildlife are restricted to areas near water sources because of the heat.
Monsoon (July – October)

The monsoon season arrives in Madhya Pradesh after a long spell of scorching hot summer and brings relief to the people and wildlife alike. The hills of Vindhya and Satpura are invigorated and covered in lush forests. Though the fresh greenery gives the landscape a lush cover, it is not an ideal time to visit the National Parks from a traveler's perspective. However, there are a few places in the state that are perfect to explore in this weather. Famous locally as the Niagara Falls of India, the Chitrakoot Falls are gushing with water and make for a spectacular view during the monsoon. During this season, you can find multiple hotels with offers and discounts especially targeted towards tourists.

The weather remains to be ideal for local sightseeing tours and visits to the various National Parks in the state. The months of November through February are the perfect times to visit the popular cities of Indore, Bhopal, and Gwalior, or make a trip to the temples of Khajuraho or Sanchi's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Winter also happens to be the best season to go on wildlife safaris in Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, or Pench National Park.
