After a short bout of spring which lasts from mid-February to mid-March, summer sets in gradually. Most of March remains comfortable while April and May are the peak summer months. Temperature continues to rise steadily and increasingly gets hot and humid. Following the Jhum harvesting in March and April there is a pre-monsoon rainfall which contributes to the humidity in the air. Temperatures reach as high as 35°C and are not a very comfortable time for exploring the city and its vicinities.

Monsoon is a long drawn affair in the city. It sets in the month of July and continues well past September. Agartala is beautiful in the rains. It is considered the best time to visit the city if you want to witness its gorgeous natural beauty. The weather is cool and pleasant after the hot wet summers. The surroundings get a fresh rejuvenated look. From August to October the city receives intermittent rainfall.

After a short phase of autumn, winter sets in by end of November and completely by December. The skies clear up as rains bid adieu to the city. After the high humidity of the summer and monsoon months winter provides some relief. Humidity is at the lowest. There are no rainfalls. The temperature hovers around a very comfortable and pleasant 18°C but sometimes tend to fall to 10°C. The chill in the air is enjoyable and makes sightseeing and outdoor activities a great experience.
