After a short bout of spring which lasts from mid-February to mid-March, summer sets in gradually. Most of March remains comfortable while April and May are the peak summer months. Temperature continues to rise steadily and increasingly gets hot and humid. Following the Jhum harvesting in March and April there is a pre-monsoon rainfall which contributes to the humidity in the air. Temperatures reach as high as 35°C and are not a very comfortable time for exploring the city and its vicinities.

Monsoon is a long drawn affair in the city. It sets in the month of July and continues well past September. Agartala is beautiful in the rains.
