The Vindhyavasini Temple in Vindhyachal is the most famous temple in the region and is dedicated to Goddess Durga’s incarnation, Vindhyavasini. This temple holds great importance among its devotees; some pilgrims take a dip in the Ganga River right next to the temple as it is considered holy to wash all your sins. The shrine of the goddess is absolutely amazing; the Devi sitting on the back of a lion is carved in black stone, which looks magnificent. A very famous and pious spot for Hindus is the Ramgaya Ghat, located at a distance of 2 km from the center of Vindhaychal city. This is said to be the spot where Lord Ram offered prayers for his father and also performed certain rituals after his demise. This ghat is very peaceful and right beside it is another ghat called Pret Shila where people come to offer prayers and perform death ceremonies of their demised ancestors, to pay them respect. The Rameshwar Mahadev Temple is also located near this ghat, which adds to the tranquility of the place, making it more religious.

The Ashtabhuja Temple in this town is a famous one that is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, who is also known as Ashtabhuja. It is believed that Lord Krishna’s sister was trapped by the heinous Kansa and to escape his clutches, she fled from the scene and took shelter at this very spot amidst the Vindhaychal mountain ranges which is the exact place the temple has been built. From this temple you can get one of the most scenic views with temple serving as the backdrop. Many devotees come to this temple and perform Trikola Parikrama, which is walking around the whole temple.  

Sita Kund

Sita Kund is located amidst the foothills of Vindhaychal Mountains and has a great story behind it. This natural spring goes back to the time of the epic Ramayana. Legend has it that the origin of this Kund is credited to Lakshman. While returning after their victory in Lanka, Sita wanted to drink water, but there wasn’t any around. When Lakshman saw this, he shot an arrow to the ground and a stream of water immediately gushed out of there, which is now named as Sita Kund. Right beside the Kund are several temples, adding beauty to the location. This place is visited by many tourists, who come to see the Sita Kund as well as the temples around.

Vindhaychal has several temples out of which the Laki Khoh Temple is an important one having a lot of religious significance. This temple is situated in a cave amidst the Vindhyachal mountain ranges and is located at a distance of 2 km from the Vindhyavasini Devi Temple. Thousands of devotees flock to this place in order to offer their prayers and attain blessings from Goddess Kali, who is an avatar of Durga. Dedicated to Kali Maa, this shrine is beautiful and the temple is set amongst lush green forests and mountains in the backdrop. One of the most prominent temples in Vindhyachal is the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple which you must visit if you are on a Dham Yatra pilgrimage in Vindhaychal. This old temple is dedicated to Hanuman Ji, whom devotees visit and pray to in the form of Bandhwa Hanuman; that is the child form of Hnauman Ji. It is not known when this temple was established, but it is known that devotees have visiting since a very long time to offer prayers. One of the most relevant temples related to the epic of Ramayana is the Sita Samahit Sthal, located in Vindhyachal. This is one of the most significant temples for devout Hindus. This is the very spot where it is believed that Sita went into the ground, into the earth, whenever she wanted to and this happened while she lived with Valmiki, who wrote the Ramayana. At this very spot, a temple has been built and is set up amidst the lush greenery of Sitamarhi. This temple is also a part of Vindhyachal Dham pilgrimage and is quite notable.

Set in the beautiful Vindhyachal mountain ranges, right in between the Vindhyavasini Temple and the Ashtabhuja Temple is the beautiful Rameshwar Mahadev Temple; which is also close to Sita Kund. This temple is close to the center of Vindhyachal town and is 8 km from Mirzapur. The presiding deity at this temple is Lord Shiva and there is a large Shiva Ling that has been established inside the temple. The Rameshwar Mahadev Temple is part of the great triangle temple pilgrimage of Vindhyachal and is considered as the third pillar. Even though the temple is quite crowded most times of the year, you will still find peace and tranquility in the area.

This fort is 400 ft tall and is covered with greenery, reflecting an image of the rich past. This fort was established in the 5th century in the hills of the Kaimur ranges. Once you enter this fort, you will get a feel of the ancient times as you can see various cave paintings, carved statues and rock inspirations.
