One of the most famous complexes in Allahabad, Khusro Bagh is a walled garden that is quadrangle in shape and has four tombs located in the complex. This structure belongs to the family of Shah Jahan and spreads over an area of 40 acres. It is a burial ground of the eldest son of Emperor Jahangir - Prince Khusro, his daughter Nesa Begum, and his wife Shah Begum. The structures that house the tombs are made of red sandstone and when you visit, you can see a lot of tourists exploring the area.

Anand Bhawan

Anand Bhawan is the former residence of the Nehru family and also home to a several other political leaders. The palace has now been transformed to a museum, exhibiting artifacts that are synonymous to the bygone era. The structure is a two storeyed mansion and was personally designed by Motilal Nehru. The interiors of the structure are amazing with artifacts from all around the world and beautiful wooden furniture that was exported from outside the country. Standing tall on the banks of Yamuna, the Allahabad Fort is an architectural marvel. Originally built by Ashoka the Great and in 1583 repaired by Emperor Akbar, the Allahabad Fort contains a lot of history and is now under the administration of the Indian Army, although part of it is open to the public. Right outside the fort is the famous Ashoka Pillar which attracts a lot of crowd as well. The fort also houses the Patalpuri Temple which is visited by many as well. The All Saints Cathedral, also known as the Patthar Girja or the church of stones is a structure that must be visited on your trip to Allahabad. The church has a gothic style architecture, which was designed and built by the British during their rule in India. Sir Emerson a British official was the mastermind behind this structure and designed magnificent glass work and carvings. Chandra Shekhar Azad Park

The Chandra Shekhar Azad Park also known as the Alfred Park is a public garden in George Town in Allahabad. This is the place where Chandrashekhar Azad, the famous freedom fighter shot himself before the British could come arrest him. The park is situated on a land which is 133 acres in size. Erected on that spot is a statue of the freedom fighter standing tall. Also, adding to the beauty of the garden are statues of Queen Victoria and George V as well. This park also marks the visit of Prince Alfred in the 18the century.

The Swaraj Bhavan is a large palatial mansion in Allahabad. This Bhavan was bought by Motilal Nehru for 19000 rupees, after which he revamped the place and made it into a beautiful palace. The rooms of the structure are decorated with Persian tapestries, Venetian glassware and many other beautiful artifacts and items that were brought back by Motilal Nehru from his visits in Europe. The Swaraj Bhavan is also the place where a lot of historical meetings and discussions took place during the freedom struggle. Today, the Bhavan is transformed into a museum and part of the place is open to the public to view.

Bade Hanuman Temple

Located in the Sangam area of Allahabad, the Bade Hanuman Mandir is situated close to the Allahabad fort. The red colored temple has an underground pit in which lies a big statue of Hanuman in lying position with half of it body immersed in water. During monsoon the place fills up with water and it is said that it rises to touch the feet of Hanuman. It is believed by the people of the region that this was the place Hanuman took rest after burning Lanka.
