By Air:

The main airport that serves the region of Allahabad is the Bamrauli Airport, also known as the Allahabad Airport; it is the fastest way to reach Allahabad. It is distanced at 12 km from the city center and has connectivity to major cities of India.

By Road:

Allahabad is well linked with several highways and expressways. The National Highway 2 is one of the fastest routes to get to the city. You can also take a bus that is run by the state government or board a private bus from a different city to travel to Allahabad.

By Rail:

The Allahabad Junction Railway Station is the main railhead that serves the people of Allahabad. It is distanced at 2.7 km from the main part of the city. Several express trains run from here to other cities in Uttar Pradesh as well as other states.

Getting Around:

It is fairly easy to commute in the city of Allahabad due to its great roadways. All the places in the city can be accessed by taxis, auto rickshaws and busses. Public transport in the city is easily and readily available for the tourists. 

Summer (April-June):

Summers in Allahabad are quite hot and dry. Temperatures during this time range from 32°C to 45°C, making the place excessively hot, especially for the ones who are not used to it. This may not be the best season to visit.

Monsoon (July-September):

Monsoons are a good time to visit Allahabad due to scanty rainfall in the region; the land does not get wet fully, but the weather remains cool and pleasant the whole time. Temperatures in this season range from 25°C to 35°C, accompanied by light rains.

Winter (September-March):

The best time to visit Allahabad is during the months of September all the way until March. This is the winter time and temperatures range from 4°C to 15°C, making it very cold, especially at nights. The city is best enjoyed during these months and offers its visitors a pleasant trip.

Go to Anand Bhavan:

A monument of historical significance, the Anand Bhavan is a renowned structure in Allahabad which is a must see in the city. This palace was once the residence of the Nehru family and is now transformed into a museum for the public.

Visit a Cathedral:

Also known as the Patthar Girja, the All Saints Cathedral is a beautiful place of worship in Allahabad. Styled in gothic architecture, this structure was designed by the British and is a very peaceful place to visit.

Relax at the Park:

Allahabad has some beautiful gardens and parks that were constructed by British officials. One of the most famous one is the Alfred Park, also known as the Chandrashekhar Azad Park; it has a lot of patriotic significance.

Take a Dip in Triveni Sangam:

Allahabad is blessed with three holy rivers; the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The confluence of these three rivers is the Triveni Sangam. This is one of the holiest spots in India and millions come every year to take a dip in the river and purify themselves.

Attend the Ardha or the Purna Kumbh Mela:

The Kumbh Mela is one of the most famous religious fairs in India and millions of Hindus flock during the Ardha and the Purna Kumbh Mela to take part and celebrate in the Kumbh Mela. The crowd seen during a Kumbh Mela held after 12 years is absolutely spectacular.

Allahabad, the city of pilgrims is one of the top places to visit, due to the Kumbh Mela; that being said, food becomes an important part of the city. Street food in Allahabad is quick and tasty; try out the Kachori and Sabzi at Netram Mulchand and Sons. The tasty, round balls of kachori of this restaurant, fried in ghee will simply melt in the mouth. You can also try Lassi at Raja Ram Lassi Waala to quench your thirst. Craving some chaat? Try some delicious paapdi chaat and golgappe at Nirala. Other places to eat in Allahabad include Gulab Jamuns from Hira Halwai, Chole Samose at Sainik and tandoori chai; tea made in tandoor that can be found in stalls all over the city.

Shopping in Allahabad is an exciting experience as you can buy a lot of things that have ethnic value. You can head over to MG Marg, which is a shopping locality and has individual shops where you can buy clothing and other accessories. Civil Lines is another place you can go to; it is highly developed and the area around it is very sophisticated as well. You can find some expensive brands at this place.
