Joshimath is a town situated approximately 42 km away from Badrinath and is nestled at a height of 6150 feet, high up in the Himalayan Mountain Ranges. The town serves as the base point to multiple treks, pilgrimages and camping sites. Joshimath is also reverred for being a religiously significant destination in the Hindu religion and serves as the winter home for the priests of Badrinath as well as the idol from the famed temple there. Best visited in the summer, this town is where important treks to Nanda Devi National Park, the Valley Of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib all begin. In the winter, sports like skiing and trekking are also possible. This is one of the best tourist places visit.

Situated about 2800 meters high in the Garhwal Himalayas, about 16 km away from Joshimath, Auli is a quaint hill-station famed for being a winter adventure sport destination. It is growing into one of the most popular destinations in Uttarakhand for tourism. It is not as popular as Shimla and Gulmarg, making it a more desirable place to visit due to mystery surrounding it. The town is famed for being a hub for some of the most exciting seasonal outdoor sports like trekking, camping, paragliding, valley crossing and skiing. Nearly 20 km from Auli and at a height of 3350 meters above sea-level, Kuari Bugyal is a famous meadow that serves as the trekking pathway for the Kuari Trek, one of the most popular treks in the country. The meadow has become progressively popular with international travellers, ever since Lord Curzon first completed this trek during the British Raj. The surrounding natural landscape is magnificent and visitors will be treated to some unqiue views of the neighbouring Himalayan Mountain Ranges. There are 4 distinct routes to reach this destination and during the summer a trip here is not to be missed. 

Bhavishya Badri Temple

This temple is a highly significant reilgious destination, situated 23 km from Joshimath and a massive 2744 meters above sea-level. It is one the Five Temples of Badrinath and is dedicated to Lord Narsimha, who is considered to be an incarnation of the mighty God Vishnu. Best visited from April to November, during the monsoon and winter travel is not advised. The are surrounding the temple is prone to dangerous landslides and caution is advised when travelling here. The temple is designed in the traditional Garhwali style. It is also an ideal place for nature lovers and bird watching due to gorgeous landscape and towering Himalayan Mountains.

Nanda Devi is a famed and reverred peak tha is steeped in history and Hindu mythology. The trek to the peak begins from Kathgodam and takes visitors as high as 7000 meters as they near the summit. Nearly 3000 meters high, the Valley Of Flowers is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to arguably the most diverse and largest gathering of rare and beautiful flowers in the world. Thousands of flowers bloom here seasonally turning the entire park into an oasis of natural splendour and beauty. It is one of the best tourist places to visit in the country, especially when visited from June to October.
