It is said that the Mughal Emperor, Ghazi-ud-din was the one who named the city of Ghaziabad and also ruled over this area. During his rule, four gates were constructed in order to mark the boundary of Ghaziabad; Dasna Gate, Sihani Gate, Delhi Gate and the Shahi Gate. Gradually as time passed, the Shahi Gate came to be known as Bazar Gate and eventually was named Jawahar Gate, while the first three gates remain intact along with their respective names.
