In this region, three wildlife sanctuaries form the main Dudhwa Tiger Reserve; namely Dudhwa National Park, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary.

By Air:

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is the closest airport to Dudhwa National Park and is located in Lucknow. This airport is located at a distance of 236.8 km from the national park and takes about 5.5 hours to get there. You can take a cab or a bus from the airport to get to your accommodation in or around the park.

By Road:

There are numerous highways and well maintained roads that lead visitors to Dudhwa National Park. You can choose to drive up there or simply take a bus, if you are traveling from within the state or from adjacent cities. Once you have reached Palia, you will see signs that will take you to the national park.

By Rail:

There are three railway stations in Dudhwa that you can take to reach Dudhwa National Park, but the closest one to the national park is the Dudhwa Railway Station, located at a distance of 9.2 km from the main entrance of the park. This is the most convenient way to travel here.

Getting Around:

Since a lot of tourists visit the place, it is not surprising that it is easy to get around the park. There are several jeeps that are driven by drivers and accompanied by guides that you can take to enjoy your experience in the wilderness. You can also move around and explore by going on elephant rides.

Summer (April-June):

Summers in Dudhwa National Park are quite hot and not the most suitable time to travel to the region. The temperatures during this time range from 32°C-40°C, making the atmosphere quite warm and stuffy, although many people do visit during this time as well.

Monsoon (July-October):

Monsoons give some respite to the animals and plants in the area and also to the locals who live in the area. Temperatures during this time range from 24°C-30°C during this time, making it a little cooler than the summers. Although at this time, the park is not open due to it being the time of breeding for the creatures.

Winter (November-March):

The best season to visit Dudhwa National Park is during the winters, due to the weather being absolutely pleasant and apt to go sightseeing. Temperatures during this time range from 12°C-22°C making the climate very cold for the animals as well as the locals living there. This is an ideal time to visit the park.

Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary:

The Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and consists of a diverse group of animals and birds; amongst them are animals like Gharial, Tigers, Wild Boar, Pythoins and many more; you are also able to see otters playing in the water body known as Jhadi Tal.

Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary:

The Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary occupies 400.6 sq km of land in the region and is a part of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. You can see many creatures like the Gangetic Dolphin, Long Billed Vultures and the Bengal Florican. The sanctuary has a river flowing alongside and visitors can sight different migratory birds at this spot.

Visit Thapar Resort and Water Park:

Once you are done seeing the places around Dudhwa National Park, head over to Thapar Resort and Water Park to enjoy a fun filled day with your family. Frog Temple:

A unique temple by the name of Frog Temple is located close to Dudhwa National Park. The temple has a lot of history related to it and is worth visiting and knowing about.

Go on a Safari:

Going on a Safari is something you must do when you visit Dudhwa National Park. Weather it is a jeep safari, an elephant safari or a boat safari, these tours ensure that visitors have a great time and see some of the rarest creatures found in the region. This is a great way to know more about the park and the creatures living in it.

After all the adventures and experiences inside Dudhwa National Park, you are sure to feel hungry. You can find vegetarian food at the canteen inside the park premises, but if you are looking for more options and something different, then you must visit restaurants outside the national park. Once you leave the premises of the park, you can go to Dudhwa TigeRhino Resort that has some fantastic Indian and Chinese food. You can also head over to Mishra Bhojanalaya which has fantastic vegetarian dishes that are cheap and also good quantity-wise. Shopping is an important part while travelling to another place, just so that you can have a memory from the time you visited the place. There is nothing to shop from within Dudhwa National Park, except for the gift shop inside the reserve that sells mostly souvenirs like key chains and other handicrafts. Other than this, you can go to a town called Pali which is just a few kilometers away from the park to get a variety of things to shop from. Visit the Keshav Handmade Embroidery and Leather Crafts store to get an experience of shopping from a local family; you can buy local handicrafts off of them to take back home as a memory. Pali is not a very popular town amongst tourists, but you can find numerous shops selling local items that are made by the locals and the tribes residing in the area. Buying from these places is a good way to contribute to their economy as well.
