This tourist-magnet city is especially busy during the summers due to its pleasant weather and it is buzzing with activity. The best time to visit Interlaken is from May to September, but there are enough and more things to see and do throughout the year, so read on to know more.

The beautiful months is a lovely time to visit Interlaken. The weather is quite sublime for people who like cold weather. The average day temperature is 14°C while the nights average at 4°C. Rain is quite common during these months. There are plenty of outdoor experiences that are popular during this time of the year like hiking and biking. A lot of flowers are also in bloom at this time so the whole city and countryside can become quite colourful and mesmerizing.

Summertime is the busiest time of the year for Switzerland because of its warm (or warmer) weather. Because of this, there are also many more events & festivals that are held during this time for the benefit of locals and tourists. The average day temperature is a pleasant 24°C while the nights average at  14°C. It can rain for about 9 to 12 days a month. Water-based activities are high on demand during this season like Kayaking and Paddleboarding on the lakes. If you are up for more land adventures, rappeling down waterfalls or paragliding are also great summer-activities.

 

Some of the important events celebrated in Summer are The Greenfield Festival in June, The International Woodcarving Symposium Brienz, Swiss National Day (1st August), Lake Brienz Rock in August, Schilthorn - Inferno Triathlon also in August, Thunfest and plenty of open-air musicals, theatre, performances that happen throughout the summer months.

 

A traditional festival called The Unspunnen Festival is held every 12 years in Interlaken, the next one is scheduled for the Summer of 2029

If you are lucky to spend your autumn in the countryside, you know you will be in for a gala time. The weather is great for the first half of the season, but post mid-October the temperature drops quickly. The average temperature for the 3 months is 14°C highs and 6°C lows. Winds blow quite a bit and this makes the evenings feel colder than the actual temperature. It can rain for up to 7 days a month. Many of the summer activities spill until early October, so there are still plenty of things to do and enjoy.

 

Some notable events during the fall months are Suldtal cattle drive in September, the International Jungfrau Marathon and the wine festival called Läset-Sunntig Spiez.

If you want a magical white holiday during the winter, there's no place like Interlaken, Switzerland. The landscapes are stunning throughout the year and even in the winters, there are many interesting things to do for tourists. The average temperature range between 3° C and -3°C. It can rain or snow about 9 times a month. There are many ski-resorts close to Interlaken so it makes it a good hub for tourists who want to explore some winter sports.

One of the most awaited events of the year is the Christmas Market which pops up in December in the Bernese Oberland. Other events that happen in winter are the Harder-Potschete (a traditional procession) and the Giessbach Sessions, which are musical concerts.
