It also makes for a great base to explore the mountain ranges of Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch.
Harder Kulm

You can climb up the Harder via the Harder-Kulm funicular. The view from the top is at a height of over 1000 meters and is spectacular. It is what attracts people to Interlaken in the first place. The panoramic view of the lakes, mountains and surrounding greenery makes for some great clicks and memories. There are 2 look-out pavilions at different heights, so don't forget to visit both. The Harder Alpine Wildlife Park is also nearby and you can visit it to spot some marmots and ibexes.
Jungfraujoch

You can’t miss out on visiting the highest railway station in all of Europe. The train line is more than 100 years old and the Jungfraujoch station is at a height of 3466 meters. The view from this ride is quite stunning and goes through a 7 km tunnel through the mountains. This area is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Property. You can visit the Top of Europe building here which offers some jaw-dropping views of the frozen Glacier all-year-round.
Unspunnen Castle

Unspunnen Castle is located 3km from the centre and is easily approachable by public transport. The castle dates back to the 1200s and an important centre of power in the 13th and 14th centuries. The castle currently stands in ruins but makes for an interesting visit. You can also walk up to Rothenfluh Castle, but the trail can be rough as it is situated on the side of a cliff. The trail can take you about an hour and it is not advisable to walk the path after dark or with children.
Spiez

Spiez is a beautiful town filled with scenic backdrops and is easily accessible by car, train and boat. The town is romanticized by its castle, built in the 13th century and 1000-year-old church. Spiez is famous for its vineyards and tourists often stop by to unwind with a glass of wine and breathe in all the traditional and local flavours this small-town has to offer.
St. Beatus Cave and Waterfalls

For people who like to travel the off beaten path, St. Beatus Cave and Waterfalls is a good way to spend part of your day. Take a tour of the beautiful underground cave chambers, filled with stalactites and stalagmites, mirror lakes and waterfalls! The walkway inside the caves is about 1 km long. Don’t forget to visit the Cave Museum as well to learn more about the terrain. You can reach the cave by road, rail and boat, however, there is a steep climb up to the cave if you visit by boat.
Interlaken Monastery and Castle

The history of Interlaken’s former Augustinian Monastery dates all the way back to the 12th century and is a colourful one. From being founded as a monastery to being converted into a hospital after the reformation and to currently being an administrative office, it has gone through a lot. Walk around the grounds of the castle and monastery and look out for the beautiful architectural work. Notable things to see are the 14th-century steeple of the church and the gothic cloister gallery.
Lake Thun

Lake Thun lies on the west of Interlaken, surrounded by mountains. You can explore its shores by walking along its path and you will encounter some drop-dead-gorgeous landscapes! You can also explore the lake by cruise boats. There are multiple operators offering different tours depending on the time you have and your budget. You can also explore the town of Thun with its Old Town centre and romantic castles from the 12th century. Thun lake is also a popular place for swimming, windsurfing and sailing activities.

Combine your trip to Lake Thun with this impressive, newly constructed footbridge over the lake. While the bridge itself is quite dynamic and click-worthy, you can get some of the best views of the deep blue Lake Thun with the majestic Bernese Alps at its background. The bridge is 180 meters in height and 330 meters long. Further long the bridge is the town of Oberhofen, another charming town with a beach and castle.

On the rim of Lake Thun is another exotic town known as Unterseen. It is a lesser-visited but equally gorgeous medieval town set at the foot of Mount Harder. Wander along its narrow streets, market place and marvel at its 13th-century architecture. Indulge yourself in some local cuisines and stock up on some freshly baked goodies. You can also stay at some of its beautiful wooden chalets.
Höhematte Park

Located at the heart of Interlaken is the Höhematte Park spread over 14 hectares of land. If you want to go on a photo-trail with stunning landscapes and beautiful flowers, this is the place to be. It also has a flower clock, a theatre, an ice skating ring (during winter) and a 150-year-old hotel within the grounds. It houses the first Japanese Garden in all of Switzerland, known as the Garden of Friendship. You can explore the park n horse-drawn carriages as well.
