Sasan Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, more popularly known as Gir National Park, is one of the most visited tourist places in Gujarat. At just about 60 km away from Junagadh, Gir National Park is the only natural home for the world famous Asiatic lions. The nearest railway station is Sasan Gir but Junagadh Junction has direct trains from Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Vadodara. It is therefore suggested to get down at Junagadh Junction as there are many trains that connect Junagadh with other cities of Gujarat. It falls under the Bhavnagar railway division of Western Railway zone. Located at 86 m above sea level, Junagadh Junction is yet another major railway station in Gujarat with five platforms. About 31 trains halt at this junction with 2 trains originating and terminating at this station. The sanctuary is 60 km away from Junagadh and you can easily book a cab from the station which will drop you to Gir. From Ahmedabad, it is about 350 km away, from Rajkot at about 160 km, and Veraval is at a distance of 45 km. The National Park is well connected with major cities in Gujarat by the road network. You can easily avail the bus service, both private and government, which will take you to Gir from different cities such as Ahmedabad, Dwarka, Vadodara, Junagadh city, and so on. Reaching Gir Wildlife Sanctuary through the air is not difficult either. The nearest airport is Keshod, which is nearly at a distance of 70 km. The other nearest airport is at Rajkot at a distance of almost 160 km. From Mumbai, the best way to reach Sasan Gir is through Diu and from Diu you can travel for about 2 hours to reach Sasan Gir.
