Ahmedabad was the capital of Gujarat between 1960 and 1970 and has been growing since then as one of the major cities in India. The city is home to some captivating lakes, old monuments, and popular museums. Being a prominent city in India, Ahmedabad has outstanding connectivity with major cities through rail, road, and air. Ahmedabad Junction is within the 5 km radius, whereas the airport is about 12 km away from the city center. Besides, there are extensive bus services, both private and government, that connect Ahmedabad with other cities by road. The fastest way to reach Ahmedabad from anywhere in India is by air, the easiest and cheapest way to reach is through the rail network. Let’s discuss them in detail.

Ahmedabad Junction, also known as Kalupur Station, is one of the largest railway stations in India. It has 12 platforms and connects Gujarat with other major states and cities in India. About 200 trains (including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto) have their stoppages here. From Mumbai alone, there are above 70 trains that connect Ahmedabad directly with Mumbai. 66 trains originate from this station and about 63 trains terminate at Ahmedabad Junction. So getting here by train is the most convenient option because of the extensive rail network. Distance from Mumbai is 500 km approx and will take about 7 - 8 hours. Ahmedabad is one of the prominent cities in India with over 40 tourist spots. You can get around in Ahmedabad by hiring an auto-rickshaw or a private cab. City buses are also available, both AC and non-AC, for sightseeing within the city. Our recommendation is to hire a private cab. You can easily visit the top spots within the city along with some amazing sightseeing outside the main city. If you are using an autorickshaw, ensure the meter is turned to zero before the start. Or best, confirm the price before boarding to avoid rebuttals and arguments later on. Short hops around the city should cost a mere INR 40, and from Ahmedabad railway station to Lal Darwaja around INR 50.
