Just about 35 km from Shillong is the Umroi airport. You can choose to reach this airport and then take a taxi to nearby places or hotels you have booked beforehand. There is also state bus transport that you can utilise and it is well-connected, which makes commuting through the state an easy task. There is also Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Guwahati which can be made use of. This is at a distance of 128 km from Shillong. You can use shared cabs which is a convenient option from this airport.
Availability of helicopter service is also an advantage. The services can be used on all days except for Sundays. These ride will be fun and are very affordable too.

Meghalaya does not have its own train station. The nearest is situated in Guwahati and you can pick a shared cab or taxi to any nearing place you wish to visit. Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) has great connectivity not only within the state but also with neighbouring states. NH40 is an inter-connecting highway between Shillong and Guwahati. If you are intending to go for some sightseeing then you can book a cab for an entire day or for quick visits around the city, you can choose the normal kaali-peeli taxis. Getting to some places might get a bit challenging in monsoons otherwise you are good to go anytime and explore the places of this beautiful state.
