Located in Jalpaiguri district of North Bengal, Lataguri is a small town located just outside Gorumara National Park on NH 31. It acts as the base for all tours to Gorumara. To visit Gorumara or Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary tourists have to collect permits and these are issued from Lataguri. In fact, tourism in Gorumara had started from Lataguri as most of the lodges were based here initially. A small town located close to forests and wilderness, Lataguri does not have air connectivity. Like most of the tourist destinations of North Bengal, Lataguri too has to depend upon Bagdogra Airport for air access. Bagdogra Airport is located in Siliguri about 45 km from Lataguri. An extremely prominent airport in this part of the country, Bagdogra provides the much needed air connectivity to North Bengal with the rest of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata etc. There are several private and public carriers operating regular flights to and from Bagdogra. From Bagdogra tourists can book cabs or even bus to reach their desired destination in Lataguri.

Lataguri does not have railway junction and like most places in North Bengal, Lataguri has to depend upon New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for rail connectivity. NJP is a major railhead in North Bengal and lies en route to the north eastern states of the country. It is extremely well connected with major places of the state and the country. There are large numbers of express and superfast trains that run through NJP. Guwahati Rajdhani Express, NJP Howrah Special, Mahananda Express, Teesta Torsa Express, North East Express, Darjeeling Mail, Amarnath Express, Dibrugarh Express are some of the many trains that stop at NJP. Located 50 km from Lataguri, tourists from NJP can take cabs or buses to reach their destination.

Lataguri is a prominent tourist destination in the area as it is the starting point of Gorumara National Park. Private and public buses operated by North Bengal State Transport Corporation provide smooth commute between Siliguri and Lataguri. There are AC Sleeper and Volvo buses and Non AC buses that provide easy travel to tourists. Lataguri is well connected by other neighbouring towns and cities like Alipurduar, Malbazar, Cooch Behar, Chalsa and Kolkata. Apart from buses, tourists can also choose to drive down and it is quite a beautiful journey through different terrains of Bengal. Road network is good and does not pose any danger or problem.

Lataguri is a small town and commuting within the town is not troublesome. Most times tourists can request their hotels or ledges to arrange for transport. Cars and jeeps are readily available for exploring the place. Tourists can even choose to explore by foot. It is a more intimate way of getting to know the place.
