Bagdogra Airport located 79km from Kalimpong is the closest aerodrome the city has. Bagdogra is the lone airport in north Bengal and is well connected with the capital city of Kolkata, national capital Delhi and the north-eastern city of Guwahati. International tourists can take a connecting flight from Kolkata or Delhi to reach Bagdogra. From the airport tourists can take taxis and buses to reach Kalimpong.

New Jalpaiguri Railway station is Kalimpong’s closest railhead and it was one of the major railways stations in northern part of West Bengal. Jalpaiguri has trains running regular to and from Kolkata. People wanting to visit Kalimpong can travel to Kolkata and take connecting train from here to Jalpaiguri. It has trains running to few other neighboring cities as well.

Kalimpong is well connected by roads to some of the neighboring places like Gangtok (75km), Bagdogra (79km), Siliguri (70km) and Darjeeling (50km). There is also a road that takes tourists from Kalimpong to neighboring state of Sikkim. The drive from Darjeeling to Kalimpong is charming and these road drives treat tourists to beautiful landscapes, snowcapped mountains and winding roads. State and private buses as well taxis are used to ferry people to and from the city.

Kalimpong is a small hill station which is best explored by foot. Walking down the winding roads surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna and towering pine trees is a beautiful way to connect with nature. There are taxis and auto rickshaws also available for those less inclined to walk.
