Kurseong is a bustling little hill town located in Darjeeling district. Also referred to as the ‘Land of white Orchids,’ Kurseong is famous for beautiful waterfalls, gompas, temples and of course those stunning white orchids that are found here in plenty. It is flanked by hill slopes with charming tea gardens. While most tourists use Kurseong as a stop-over before moving onto exploring the more popular destinations of Darjeeling, the little quaint town is definitely worth a visit. It is well connected with other cities and towns by rail, roads and air.

A small town that it is, Kurseong does not have direct air connectivity. For those traveling by flight, they have to depend on Bagdogra Airport located in Siliguri about 40 km away from Kurseong. Bagdogra is well connected by flights from the capital city of Kolkata and other cities of the country like Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad etc. Public and private carriers operate regular flights between the cities and Bagdogra. From the airport tourists can hire cabs or take a bus to reach their preferred destination in Kurseong.

Kurseong does not have a rail station of its own. The closest railhead is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station located 44 km from Kurseong. New Jalpaiguri enjoys good connectivity with some of the major cities of the country and of course with Kolkata. There are regular trains plying between the capital city of the state and New Jalpaiguri. Kanchanjunga Express, Kaziranga Express, Shatabdi Express, Teesta Torsa Express, Saraghat Express, Guwahati Express and many others.

Kurseong is fairly well connected by road from neighboring cities and towns and other parts of the state. It can be reached by buses, taxis and jeeps from Darjeeling which is located 49 km from Kurseong. From Siliguri it is located at a mere distance of 45 km. Buses and taxis ply regularly between Siliguri and Kurseong ferrying tourists from the airport to the hill town. There are also regular buses operating at night and during the day from Kolkata, Kharagpur etc. From New Jalpaiguri station taxis and buses take transfer tourists to Kurseong.

For traveling around Kurseong buses are available. For sightseeing and exploring the town, tourists can hire jeeps and taxis. Hotels often arrange local transportation for tourists to move around the area. The best way however, to explore and enjoy the place is by foot. Walking down the winding roads, taking in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the surrounding landscape is the best way to connect with the town.
