Contrary to most areas in North India, summer is the best time to visit Yumthang Valley. This is the season of flower blossoms and features some of the most varied species of Rhododendron in the country. The temperatures range between pleasant levels of 14ᴼC-20ᴼC. With occasional rains, the temperature can sometimes dip lower. 

Monsoons in Yumthang experience very heavy rainfall and strong winds, which is not a suitable time for traveling in this region. The roads get muddy and slippery and the rain often results in landslides as well. The temperatures are in the range of 4ᴼC-18ᴼC, and while the peak season of Rhododendron blossoms is over, one can still observe the Himalayan flowers in bloom during the month of June and July.

While marveling at the numerous varieties of blooms is supposed to be the highlight of Yumthang Valley, the best time to enjoy the views of the Eastern Himalayas from here is during the autumn months. Travellers are promised clear skies and a crisp weather so they can completely immerse themselves into the divine ambience of the valley. The temperature varies between 7ᴼC-15ᴼC, and is a great time to visit most of the scenic areas in Yumthang.

Yumthang Valley witnesses cooler temperatures through most of the year, but winter time usually sees temperatures dip as low as -17ᴼC, with highest levels in the range of 8ᴼC. Snow abounds everywhere and while it makes for a lovely sight, the extreme temperatures may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
