Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh is an ancient city that lies on the shores of the river Narmada, a river that is considered holy. It was the capital for the Kings of the Gond in the 12thcentury and later Jabalpur became the seat for the Kalchuri dynasty. The Marathas came next and held on to the city till the British took it away and made it a cantonment. The city is a sprawling industrial city with diverse defence manufacturing units. It has two universities as well, the Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University and the Rani Durgavati University with some thirty colleges. The weather in Jabalpur is temperate and the best time to visit Jabalpur is of course winter. However, Jabalpur is fairly comfortable almost throughout the year barring the summer months. There is freshness in the air and one is comfortable when dressed in woollens. You can gorge on sweets and heavy north Indian food, go for sightseeing, enjoy the weather - all without worrying about falling sick.
