The city of Kutch lies in the western part of the country. Being the largest district in the state of Gujarat, it shares its border with Pakistan and is inhabited by a wide array of tribes with their own unique culture, tradition, and language. It is basically a wide stretch of dry land with hills and deserts along with a fertile coastline on one side which overlooks the Arabian Sea. Predominantly, Kutch's weather is influenced by its dry land and experiences severe climatic conditions characterized by scorching summer and inadequate rainfall. The winter season is pleasant and the best time to visit Kutch.

The summer season in Kutch is remarkably hot and usually starts from the month of March and lasts till June. March is still pleasant but the temperature increases slowly by the start of April and becomes almost unbearable by May and June. During this time, the weather becomes extremely hot and the temperature can rise up to 48 °C. Due to such severe weather condition, tourists generally avoid visiting Kutch during this time and thus, this is not the recommended time.

Temperature range: A minimum of 27 °C on an average and a max of 36 °C, reaching up to 48 °C in extreme conditions.

The start of July marks the arrival of south-west monsoon in Kutch. Although it doesn’t rain much, the region still receives an average annual rainfall of 356 mm. This is still better compared to other neighboring dry regions which receive almost no rainfall. The area faces serious water deficiency, but monsoon does help in bringing the high temperature down and provide some relief from the scorching heat. It becomes quite pleasant for visitors in monsoon to enjoy their time on beaches and sanctuaries.

Temperature range: A minimum of 26 °C on an average and a max of 32 °C.

In comparison, the winter season is much better and pleasant than summer and monsoon in Kutch. The winter season usually starts by the end of October and lasts till February. The winter can turn quite chilly on occasions when the temperature drops to as low as 2 °C. Despite such low temperature, the winter season is an excellent time to visit Kutch and woolen wear becomes a necessity. The best time to visit Kutch is from November to February and the initial weeks of March just before the assault of summer.

Temperature range: A minimum of 18 °C on an average and a max of 25 °C, sometimes dropping below 10 °C.
