The main airport that serves the city of Lucknow is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, which is located at a distance of 15 km from the city center in Amausi. Major airlines like Indigo, Air India, Go Air, Spice Jet and Vistara have planes that fly back and forth from Lucknow to other cities in India; this is the fastest and the most convenient way to reach Lucknow. There are two terminals at the airport; T1 serves international passengers and T2 serves domestic passengers. There are flights that go to international destinations like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh, Doha and are operated by international airlines like Oman Air, Fly Dubai and Saudi Airlines. Once you reach the airport, you can get a prepaid taxi or you can choose to take a auto or a bus to your destination in Lucknow.

If you want to take a road trip to Lucknow, you’re in luck as the roadways here are well connected. You can choose to drive from neighbouring cities or from a different state as well. A number of highways and expressways connect Lucknow to other cities in the state like Varanasi, Allahbad, Kanpur and many more, making it easy for anyone coming from within the state. If you don’t want to drive and looking for an inexpensive option, then taking a bus would be apt. Bus services provided by Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) are available for the public and ply from various cities in the state as well as adjacent states. Lucknow is well connected by rail with the main railhead being the Lucknow Junction Railway Station, which is located at a distance of 3.6 km from the center of the city. The second most important railhead in Lucknow is the Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, located at 3.2 km from the main city. Both these stations have trains that ply from major cities in India to Lucknow and are quite frequent as well. Travelling by train is a great option as it is cheaper than the other modes of transportation and the idea of going on a vacation in a train is exciting. If you are in Delhi, you can take the Jan Shatabdi from there to Lucknow that will take about 6-7 hours and other fast trains from various cities will take you to Lucknow in about 8-9 hours.

Commuting around Lucknow is never a problem and public modes of transportation are always available round the clock. You can choose to ride a bus, auto, taxi or even the metro. Busses are the most common means of moving around and one of the cheapest too. You can find a number of busses that are run by the UPSRTC, taking passengers from one destination to another. If you want a vehicle that is personal to you, then moving around in a cab is suitable; it is comfortable but may be a little expensive.
