Planning A Trip To Kurnool? Here are some guidelines on how to reach Kurnool

Kurnool is one of the prime cities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Located on the bank of the Tungabhadra river, Kurnool is often referred to as the Gateway of Rayalaseema. Similar to other cities in Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool is also one of the pilgrim sites in the state. Therefore, it has become one of the most visited places in Andhra. Besides the pilgrim sites such as Mahanadi, Ahobilam, Srisailam, Yaganti and so on, other famous visiting spots in the city include Rollapadu Sanctuary, Orvakal Rock Garden, and Belum Caves. Excited to visit this place? But unsure of how to get here? We got you covered. In this article, we’ll discuss just that. Trains, of course, are the best way to get here whereas flights are the fastest but also an expensive mode of transport.

Reaching Kurnool by train is the most convenient option. The city has its own railway station with a station code as KRNT and also the nearest station to get to the city center. The station has 3 platforms and about 55 trains have stoppages here. Also, 7 trains originate and terminate at this station. The station elevation is 292 above the sea level and managed by the South Central Railway Division of Hyderabad. Kurnool is connected directly with major Indian cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Chennai, Bengaluru, Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Jabalpur, Lucknow and so on. So getting here by train is pretty easy. However, if you’re coming here from Mumbai, mind that there are no direct trains. You’ll have to take a train from Mumbai till Hyderabad and from Hyderabad, it is just about 3 hours from a train. So check www.irctc.co.in for more details and book your tickets with ease.

Kurnool doesn’t have its own dedicated airport. The nearest airport is at Hyderabad that runs both international and domestic flights. So to reach Kurnool by flight, book a ticket from your source city (if there’s an airport in your city) and reach Hyderabad. Hyderabad Internation Airport has excellent flight connectivity with all major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Vizag, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. You can book almost any flight: GoAir, AirIndia, Vistara, SpiceJet, IndiGo from any air ticket booking website. Once you reach Hyderabad, hire a cab or get on to a bus. From Hyderabad Airport, Kurnool is about 200 km away. So a good 3-4 hours drive will get you to Kurnool and you can get down conveniently at your hotel.

Kurnool is quite a happening and commercial city in Andhra. Although there is an option to travel by local city buses which run with a good frequency, it is not a recommended option. This is because of the heavy crowd on the bus, especially, during office hours. Plus, not all buses will drop you directly to your visiting point. The other options are private auto-rickshaws and cabs. These two options are not only convenient but also help you reach tourist spots directly without any issues or guidance. These two transport are available easily and can be booked either from your hotel or online. However, they tend to charge more from tourists, so ensure you are negotiating well. If you’re lucky you might get a good deal for a day or two and you can enjoy sightseeing in Kurnool comfortably.
