Bhimtal is a hill station situated 1370 meters above sea level and 22 km away from Nainital, in Uttarakhand. The town is named after Bhima of Mahabharata. Both local and international tourists flock here to enjoy the natural beauty of the Bhimtal Lake, the crown jewel of the town. The weather is well-balanced throughout the year. However, tourism in Bhimtal tends to boom during the summer months (March – June). The town is well-connected by roadways, making it easy to get in and around from the neighbouring airports and railway stations, in addition to the cities in and around Uttarakhand. By Road:

The best way to reach Bhimtal is via the highly efficient roadway network connecting Bhimtal to the rest of the cities in and around Uttarakhand, as well as the rest of India.

 

By Air:

Pantnagar Airport can be found 58 km from Bhimtal and is the closest domestic airport. There are several car and bus options available to Bhimtal from here.

 

By Rail:

Kathgodam station, 30 km away, is the closest railway station. The station enjoys a relatively high frequency of trains. Delhi is 276 km away.

Summer (March - June):

This is arguably the best time to visit Bhimtal. The weather is balanced, enabling a variety of outdoor adventure sports and activities for visitors. Visitors can truly appreciate Bhimtal’s beauty during this season.

 

Winter (September – February):

From September to December the weather is relatively pleasant and enjoyable for visitors. However, December onwards temperatures are known to drop to sub-zero levels, making outdoor activities next to impossible.

 

Monsoon (July – August):

Although the surrounding vegetation is lush as ever, the excessive rainfall this town is known to receive can make it tricky for visitors. The weather observes a combination of decent weather and erratic showers. It is not the best time to visit.

Boating and Fishing:

This is one of the most popular things to do in Bhimtal. The Bhimtal, Sat Tal, and Naukuchiatal lakes are all stunning and are visited by tourists throughout the year.

 

Camping and Stargazing:

The natural splendour of Bhimtal makes it a haven for camping. The clear skies are also ideal for stargazing, especially during the summer.

 

Picnic:

There are numerous picnic spots for families and young couples alike. Lakeside picnics are a great way to spend the day in relaxation.

Located in the center of Bhimtal, Mall Road is the place to be for shopping enthusiasts. The town of Bhimtal is much quieter and laid back, enabling shoppers to explore every nook and corner of the city.
