Summers are normally hot and humid with the temperature rising to more than 40°C. The days are warm and not thought apt for travelling and sightseeing. May is the hottest month, when the temperature could rise to 42°C. Keep yourself hydrated on sweet oranges and wedges of succulent guavas.
If you are in Aurangabad in summer, you could participate in Ellora Festival (March) and Paithan Festival or Yatra that is celebrated in March or April in honor of Sant Eknath Maharaj. Paithan Yatra is the second largest fair held in Maharashtra after Pandarpur’s Aashadhi Ekadasi.

Monsoon rains in from June or July till September and the rain showers are moderate to heavy. Days are warm and humid and the rains make travelling and sightseeing cumbersome. But the showers turn the landscape fresh and green and travelling to places like Ajantha and Ellora which has small streams and rivulets, makes for a good experience. If you do not mind the rains, you could visit Aurangabad during the monsoons.
As the rains are not incessant, you could choose a clear day to visit the caves, zoos and gardens or go on moderate trek up the hills near Aurangabad. Keep an umbrella or raincoat handy, in case a sudden shower catches you unawares.

The temperature ranges from 10°C to 25°C and the days are pleasant, dry and breezy. Winters are considered the best touristy seasons to journey in and you could travel around the city of Aurangabad without any interruption. As winters are peak tourist seasons and hotels are busy, it’s better to get your accommodations booked in advance. Sometimes winters do turn very chilly and it is better you pack in warm woolen clothes for the trip.
Winter is the perfect time to visit Aurangabad and participate in the music and dance extravaganza in the Ajantha and Ellora festival or hike to the hills near Ellora. Visit the Jayakwadi dam to see the flamingos, Marsh Harriers, Blue Winged Stilts and Open billed Storks that fly in for winter.
