The months from December to February are very unpredictable; as winter sets in to Venice, it is hard to tell whether it will be an absolutely cold winter with rain and gushing winds or just a mild and comfortable one. The sun shines for approximately only 3-4 hours a day and the skies are filled with dark clouds, ready to give out rain. The temperatures during this season rise up to a maximum of 10 °C (50 °F)- 14 °C (57 °F) in the day to 1 °C (34 °F) and sometimes below freezing point at night. This cold is accompanied by rains, making it even chillier in Venice. It rarely snows in this city and even if it does, it never accumulates. If you are travelling during this time, make sure you carry necessary clothing.
