The most beautiful thing about Kalpa is that it is a confluence of both Hindu and Buddhist cultures and you can witness this in the architecture of the Monasteries and Temples that are established all over this village. The monasteries and temples almost look similar, except maybe a stupa being the evident difference. Some of the must visit temples in this region are the Nag Nagini Temple in Chini and the Chandika Devi Temple in Kothi; the Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Monastery is also one of the popular monasteries in Kalpa.
Although there aren’t many places to go sightseeing in Kalpa, the place does offer immense peace and tranquility to anyone who is visiting. The Kinnaur Kailash is one of the most famous attractions to see; the height of the peaks covered in snow is a spectacular sight to watch. The Suicide Point, an attraction located 4 km from Kalpa is also a tourist spot. You can also go visit Kali Goddess at her temple in Sapni fort, a structure that is a seven storey wooden marvel.
The hills of Kalpa are perfect to go trekking and to see magnificent views of the Kinnaur-Kailash. Another great spot to go trekking is Chaka that provides adventure enthusiasts with an ultimate trekking experience. This trek takes about 2-3 hours to complete and get to the top of the mountain, depeding on the pace you are moving at. If you don’t want to do a trek, you can always go on a short walk to places like The Suicide Point.
Visit Beautiful Villages
Villages in Kalpa exhibit the ethnic village life and depict the beautiful culture of the region. 5km from Kalpa, The Kothi village is popular amongst tourists because of the ancient shrine of Goddess Chandika that is present here. The shiny golden idol of the deity and the architecture of the temple is the highlight of this village. The Roghi village is also worth visiting due to the lovely views of the Kinnaur-Kailash that can be witnessed from there.
