Bomdila is in West Kameng district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, it is also the headquarters of Kameng District. It is a small town with a population of fewer than 10,000 people. It is untouched by the outside world. There are only two hotels in the town of Bomdila, but you can find a number of homestays. It is always recommended to stay in a homestay to get a local experience. It is advisable to plan a trip in advance if you are a foreigner because you will need IPL (inner line permit) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. If you are an Indian then you can get IPL by paying Rs. 100. If you love Trekking, then Dirang is the place one should never miss. It is a beautiful hill station between Bomdila and Tawang with many high peaks and mountains around it. You can find many base camps for bird watchers and trekkers at Mandla which is at a distance of 28 km from Dirang. Dirang is also known for its natural beauty with its variety of flora and fauna. It has many medicinal plants that are found here in abandon. It is also known for its hot springs and apple orchards.

Bomdila monastery was built under the guidance of Dalia Lama. It was completed in 1965. It is at the top of a hill and you can get a beautiful panoramic view of Bomdila town from here. It also has a beautiful Buddha Temple inside the Monastery. You can spend some quality time here in the Meditation Hall, meet monks and just go around the Monastery. Eagle nest wildlife sanctuary is one more beautiful place near Sessa Orchid sanctuary. It has many waterfalls which fall from a lesser height and it is a feast to the eyes. It is home to many animals like the Bengal tiger, Black Bear, Red panda, Elephants and more. It is a must for bird watchers since it has many birds like the Eagle, Kingfisher, Hornbill, ducks and many more. Bomdila War Memorial and View Point is built in the memory of our soldiers who laid down their lives protecting our country in 1962, Bomdila War. The view from this place is amazing since it is at the highest point and you can see the enchanting Himalayas to the north and beautiful Bomdila town on the south.
