Udhampur does not have an airport and hence there are no regular flights to connect the city with other cities of the country. The closest airport operating civilian flights is Satwari Airport in Jammu. It is located about 72 km from Udhampur but is well connected by road. Jammu Airport has flights to and from most of the major cities with both private and national carriers like Jet Airways, Air India, Vistara, Go Air, Indigo etc operating providing regular services.

Udhampur has a pretty little railway station surrounded by mountains about 2 km from the city centre. It is situated 2165 feet above sea level. It is well connected by trains with major neighbouring cities like Delhi. Udhampur-Jammu Mail, Uttar Sampark Kranti Express, Delhi Sarai Rahilla Udhampur AC Superfast Express etc ply regularly between Udhampur and Delhi. Many trains coming to Jammu have been extended to connect Udhampur.

Jammu is a mere 70km from Udhampur and is connected by National Highway. Udhampur boasts of a commendable bus service operated by Jammu And Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) and private operators like Gee Pee Travels, Bhatia Travels, Sreenath Travels, National Travels etc. Most of the buses plying between Jammu and Srinagar pass through Udhampur, hence improving its connectivity. Other neighbouring towns too are connected by bus service to Udhampur.

Udhampur is a small city and it does not have extensive bus service for moving around. There are no cabs but car rentals are available for visitors to explore the city and visit neighbouring areas. The easiest mode of transport is auto rickshaws, which are readily available and can be used for point to point travel. Trekking and hiking is another good way of exploring the vicinity on the outskirts of the city.
