Omkareshwar in MP is located 77km away from Indore and 133km from Ujjain. The religious town is situated on a sacred island which has the shape of the Hindu symbol Om. The island is 1km wide and 2km long. The temple of Omkareshwar is famous because it is one of the Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The recorded history finds Omkareshwar during the medieval period under the rule of the aboriginal Bhil chieftains, then the Parmars and finally the Scindia of Gwalior before it was handed over in 1824 to the British. Omkareshwar has excellent road connections with Indore and Ujjain besides Khandwa which are all served by regular buses and these include Volvo and other private buses. The distance from Omkareshwar to Delhi is around 940km and one can cover this distance in just over 17h. The drive from Mumbai may take around 11h while from Kolkata it may take almost 33h if you were planning to drive from that city to Omkareshwar.

There is a railhead at Omkareshwar Road but unfortunately not many trains stop here. So your best bet would be to take a train up to Indore from wherever you are and take a taxi from Indore to Omkareshwar which is 77km away. Indore Station has 42 trains that originate and 43 that terminate besides 22 trains that halt there.

Omkareshwar does not have an airport. However, Indore does have an airport called Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport which has flights by Indigo, Air India, Air Asia and Jet Konnect according to available information. These airlines offer connections to important cities that include Delhi and Mumbai as well as Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bhopal and Ahmedabad.

One should be able to get around in Omkareshwar by walking. However, if there are elders and small children one could hire auto rickshaws. There are ordinary buses too and these are fairly regular.
