The best way to reach Madhubani is to catch a train to the place. Those who want to fly down will have to land at Patna airport and thereafter catch a taxi to Madhubani which is 128km away.

The roads in Madhubani are motorable. Therefore, the 645km road distance between Madhubani and Kolkata can be covered in about 14 hours. The drive to Patna from Madhubani, a distance of 167km will take around 4hr20min. The drive from Delhi will take almost 18 hours to cover the distance of 1174km. However, it is a good idea to confirm the condition of the road before you begin your journey. This is because the roads in Bihar are undergoing a massive maintenance program.

Madhubani is well connected with the rest of the country by rail. There are three rail stations in this town and these are Madhubani, Lalit Lakshmipur and Rajanagar. The distance of Kolkata by rail is 572km and there are three direct trains such as the Gangasagar Express and Koaa Jyg Express. The rail distance between Delhi and Madhubani is 1210km and there are two direct trains which are Saryu Yamuna Express and Jyg Anvt G Rath. The faster train takes about 20hr to cover the distance.

Madhubani does not have an airport. However, Patna which is only 167km away from Madhubani, has one. So if you wish to travel quickly to Madhubani from any other city in India you could catch a flight to Patna and then travel by taxi to Madhubani. The road distance of 167km between Patna and Madhubani will not take you longer than about 4hr20min. As far as flights to Patna are concerned, Patna is well connected with the rest of the country by air.

It is fairly easy to get around in Madhubani. There are buses that ply between other cities and Madhubani. As far as local conveyances are concerned there are plenty of auto rickshaws and e-rickshaws all over the city. For larger groups it is possible to hire local buses as well. Though taxis are not available, one could hire cars using online booking system. The bus service is generally used by the local people to commute between Madhubani and other towns nearby.
