Ayodhya does not have many direct routes that will take you to the city; it does not have an airport in the city, but it does have a railway station and various bus services that will take you to the city. Although Ayodhya is a city visited by many in Uttar Pradesh, it is not directly connected by flight to other cities. The nearest airport to this religious city is the Faziabad Airport which is located at a distance of 8.2 km from the center of Ayodhya city. Major flight carriers operate from this airport and transport passengers from Ayodhya to other cities in India. You can also take a flight to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow as it has more frequent flights plying from national as well as international cities. Once you reach the airport, you can take a cab or a bus to reach your hotel in Ayodhya.

Ayodhya is well connected to other cities in Uttar Pradesh as well as adjacent cities. There are networks of well maintained national as well as state highways that link Ayodhya to various cities in Uttar Pradesh as well as neighbouring states. If you are in Uttar Pradesh, you can easily drive to Ayodhya and if you aren’t too keen on driving, you can always take a bus that is run by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to reach your destination. There are several private busses that run from adjacent states as well; they are comfortable and one can reach Ayodhya easily.

There are two railheads that serve the city of Ayodhya; the Ayodhya Junction Railway Station and the other is the Faziabad Junction Railway Station and both of these can be used to reach Ayodhya. The Ayodhya Junction Railway Station is the closest to the city and is distanced at 450 m from the city center and is the most convenient way to reach Ayodhya. You can also take a train to the Faziabad Junction Railway Station located at a distance of 10.6 km from Ayodhya city. Both these railheads are close to the city and public transportation can be used from the railway station to reach Ayodhya.

You can easily get around Ayodhya by various modes of transportation like busses, auto rickshaws and tongas. Local busses run by UPSRTC can be used to comfortably move around and the tickets aren’t too pricey either; although busses are bit crowded, especially during peak season. Auto rickshaws are popular as they are faster, cheap, comfortable and personal. You can also use a cab if you want to travel around comfortably especially in the heat, but they are more expensive than the other modes. Also, tongas will take you to one place from another at very cheap rates, it is a good way to feel the city as well.
