Bodh Gaya in Bihar 127.8km from Patna, the capital of Bihar, is the holiest place for Buddhists who come for a visit from all over the world. The major place for the pilgrimage is the Mahabodhi Temple, the place where Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Today the temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the other three sites for pilgrimage, Sarnath, Lumbini and Kushinagar. The weather in Bodh Gaya is warm and temperate with its average temperature being 26.5°C and the average rainfall being 1017mm. The best time to visit Bodh Gaya is the winter which is between December and February. However, it is pleasant between the months October and March.

Summer starts from March and ends by the month of May. The maximum temperature during summer ranges between 45°C to 47°C while the temperature drops to a minimum of about 27°C. The summer is therefore not the right time to be in Bodhgaya for visitors.
Monsoon (June-August)

Bodh Gaya receives a fair amount of rainfall. As a matter of fact the city is known to receive around 214cm of rainfall each year. The monsoon starts in June and pours till the month of August. The weather is quite pleasant during this time of the year and one can visit Bodh Gaya during the monsoon. However, visitors may not like the idea of getting wet while they go around visiting sites.
Winter (December – February)

The winter season in Bodh Gaya is most pleasant and it lasts from December till February. The temperature may go to a high of 28°C and drop to around 4°C. Visiting temples and other places is most enjoyable during this season. However, visitors will need woollens when they are out visiting.
