An incredible experience, Whale Watching is a popular activity in Mirissa and one of the best places to visit in the world with a 95% chance of sighting whales and dolphins in November through April. Even though the whale tours run in May through October as well, the sightings are limited due to the choppy seas.
In addition to seeing the blue whales, you can also get an opportunity to witness other marine life here, which includes, bottlenose dolphins, killer whales, spinner dolphins, striped dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, sperm whales, whale sharks, orcas, turtles and many more. With varying prices from different operators, the tours may cost approximately INR 6,000 per person.

Mirissa has some amazing large waves, good for both beginners and experts alike, and more so near the Palm Tree Grove. There’s another place called Weligama, which is a famous beach, just 10 minutes from Mirissa, and a popular surfing beach.
Then you have snorkelling on Turtle Bay, one of the specialties of Mirissa Beach, where you can swim during the low tides. Early morning is the best time to visit for both surfing and snorkeling.
Fishing Tour

Experience a mesmerizing fishing expedition with a tour on a rented boat from the Mirissa Harbor, late in the afternoon and witness some gorgeous varieties of fish like the Snapper, Grouper, Emperor and Bonefish at the coast with another assortment of the Barracuda, Sheer fish, Spanish Mackerel, Indian Mackerel, Kingfish, Queens, Barramundi, Jackfish, Tuna and Trevally in the open sea. The tour is for roughly 3 hours or so.

The tour begins at the Mirissa harbor, and will take you around the stunning red cliffs at the Snake Island, crossing the Mirissa Beach, with a quick view of the secret beach as well.
