Things To Do In Bhedaghat

Bhedaghat, a town in the district of Jabalpur, MP, is a place blessed by nature. It has the beautiful River Narmada which flows by the side of the town and the Dhuandhar Falls which attracts thousands of visitors each day. It also has the unique Marble Rocks you will not find anywhere else in the country and maybe the world. There are therefore many things to do in Bhedaghat and its adjoining areas. The wonderful world of Kanha National Park is only 197 km from Bhedaghat. You can enjoy a full day exploring the deep forest of the Kanha National Park by going on a jeep safari. The Bargi Dam is fairly close to River Narmada. Besides generating power, the area has been developed as a tourist spot as well. Spend a bright day speed boating, paddle boating or simply bird watching here.

Enjoy the spiritual side of Bhedaghat and Jabalpur. Head for Gwarighat and take a closer look at the evening aarti which begins at 7 pm everyday. It looks uncannily similar to what you can see at Varanasi and you will love every moment, the chants, the hymns, the bells, the feeling of being a part of the crowd and yet the only person in front of the river.

This museum is a treasure trove of some amazing photographs including those of Gandhiji. You will also see some outstanding artefacts and a glimpse into the culture of the Adivasis. There is no entry fee for children who are up to 15 years of age and handicapped people. The museum is closed on Mondays and all government holidays. The museum is double storied and has four galleries. There is an auditorium on the ground floor. There is a coin gallery and a gallery for tribal art. Time will fly when you visit this museum.

The Dumna Reserve Park has just the right admix of leisure activities and being with nature. Here you can enjoy recreational activities that include swimming, fishing and taking toy train rides. And if you love nature and are a photographer there is rich flora and fauna to encourage you. You could take a walk or indulge in bird watching. Located on Airport Road, the Dumna Nature Reserve Park is the perfect place for eco-tourism near Bhedaghat.

Located close to the fort known as Bajnamath some 15 km from Jabalpur, there is the lake called Sangram Sagar Lake. If you wish to take a break from city life while on a trip to Bhedaghat then this lake is the perfect place for quiet and serenity. Spend some time at the fort and admire the medieval style architecture and then marvel at the coots and pin-tailed ducks in the lake.
