Located on Shivnath River, this island has a counterpart called Madku Small Island, which is unique island as well and has a lot of greenery along with small rustic temples. By Air:
The closest airport to reach Madku Dweep is Swami Vivekananda International Airport; it is distanced at 103 km from Madku Dweep and takes almost 2 hours to reach. After you land at the airport, you can take a taxi to reach the island.
By Road:
The best way to go to Madku Dweep is by road as you can directly get there on wheels, all you have to do is drive on a bridge leading to the island. You can either drive out there or you can take a bus originating from other parts of the state or from the district itself.
By Rail:
The main railhead that serves the area of Madku Dweep is Bilaspur Junction in Bilaspur. This railway station is distanced at 40.2 km from the main island and can be easily reached by taking a taxi from the railway station. This is an inexpensive way of travelling.
Getting Around:
The best way to get around in Madku Dweep is by walking. You can explore, observe and learn a lot about the island by walking around. If you are coming in a car, you can use that to move around the island as well.

Summer (April-June):
Starting in the month of April, the summer season is one of the hottest seasons in the year in the country as well as Madku Dweep. Temperatures at this time range from 30°C to 40°C and is quite hot and humid for a vacation.
Monsoon (July-October):
After the scorching heat of summer, in the month of July the monsoons come in. Temperatures during this time range from 21°C-28°C and are much lower than the summers. This is a great time to visit the island and feel its natural beauty.
Winter (November-March):
The winter season slowly starts to creep in during the last week of October and stays all the way until March. Temperatures during this time range from 10°C to 20°C, making it a whole lot chillier than the other season. This is the best season to visit because of the beautiful cool climate.

Go on a Pilgrimage:
There are several things to do in Madku Dweep and the first one on your list should be visiting the famous temples on the island. These temples are awe inspiring and have immense historical significance. Visit Hanuman Mandir, Harihara Mandir and a Shiva Temple on the island which is very old.
19 Shiva Temples:
When excavation that took place on this island, several Shiva Temples were found underneath; using raw materials from the ruins of these temples, archeologists and architects under the guidance of Sage Madku re imagines and constructed 19 Shiva temples, identical in shape and size.
Spend a Day at Bubble Island:
Once you are done touring around the region, head over to the area’s most famous amusement park that includes rides as well as a water park with slides and other activities for both children and adults to enjoy.
Visit a Waterfall:

When you leave for Madku Dweep, make sure you are carrying food with you as there aren’t many places on the island where you can sit and eat or even get food for that matter. If you are looking to have street food and fill your stomach with that, then eating on this island shouldn’t be a problem. But, if you step outside the island in Bilaspur, you can treat yourself to practically anything. Head over to Rasoi Veg Restaurant for some tasty North Indian food, after that you must go to the Invitation restaurant that serves both Italian and Chinese. Other than this there are restaurants like Poppinz Restaurant, 786 Bilaspur and more. You can even go to neighbouring villages to taste authentic tribal cuisine.

Madku Dweep Island is a great place to visit and some unique items in the gift store on the island. Gifts and souvenirs related to the island are kept in the gift shop and you can buy from there. Other than this you can shop in Bilaspur; malls like City Mall 36 and Vintage 24 are popular ones in Bilaspur and you can find a variety of things to shop from. If you don’t want to go to a mall, you can always visit the local markets in villages which are known as haats to get something authentic that describes the region well. You can get handicrafts, pottery items, jewelry, cloth and many other things in these markets. Bilaspur's famous Kosa silk shops sell beautiful sarees that you cannot resist buying.
