Mokokchung is a municipality and town in the Mokokchung district of northeastern Indian state of Nagaland. It serves as the district headquarters of Mokokchung district and cultural epicenter of the Ao people. It is an economic and political hub of northern part of Nagaland. After Dimapur and Kohima it is the third most important urban center in the state. Mokokchung district has been recognized as ‘Land of Pioneers’ by the State Government of Nagaland. The town lies close to NH 61 which helps to connect Kohima in Nagaland with Jhanji in Assam. The roads are well developed making movement by road easy and enjoyable. The roads are lined with green trees and surrounded by stunning scenic beauty. A cab or taxi ride through these roads can be quite a stunning experience.
