Popularly known as the Open Air Art Gallery, Mandawa is believed to be established in the 18th century. Mandawa is considered an important destination in the silk route. While the merchants were enroute to China, they passed through Mandawa and some of them built the huge Havelis that adorn the city. Mandawa has since been connected to the rest of the country and many important cities in India. Travelling to Mandawa is fairly easy and the place can be accessed by air, rail and road. The best way though to reach Mandawa is to take a flight to Jaipur and take a taxi to the city from there.

The Jhunjhunu Railway Station is connected to the National capital, New Delhi, with trains departing and arriving in Jhunjhunu almost every day of the week. Jhunjhunu is also connected to Haryana via Rewari with trains almost every day. There are taxi services from the railway station in Jhunjhunu that will take you to Mandawa.

The roads here are well maintained and driving to Mandawa is a must-do. Mandawa is located at about 260 km from New Delhi and the journey to Mandawa from Delhi is usually around 7 hours. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation provides excellent bus services to Mandawa from numerous destinations in the region. There are buses that ply to Mandawa almost every day from Delhi and the prices are rather nominal. There are also taxi services from most major cities in the region that will take travellers to Mandawa, the prices though depend on the type of service and destination.

Getting around is no hassle too, as most places in Mandawa lie close to each other and can be reached by walking. But one can also hire a taxi to get around in the city.
