The nearest airport is at Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), about 90 km from Kumbakonam. Trichy International Airport has domestic flights to Kochi, Bengaluru and Chennai and international flights to Sharjah, Kuala Lampur, Singapore, Dubai and Colombo. You could hire a cab from the airport to Kumbakonam or a bus/cab from near the airport to the Central Bus Stand at Trichy and get on a connecting bus to Kumbakonam.
