Baripada is a town situated in the Mayurbhanj district of the coastal state Orissa; also serving as the headquarters of Mayurbhanj. The city is located along the banks of the Budhabalanga River and is home to numerous tribal communities of Orissa. While there are no airports within the city of Baripada, the airports in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata are almost equidistant from the city. The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata and the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar is located around 230 km and 254 km away from Baripada respectively. These commercially significant international airports have domestic terminals as well that are accessible from all major cities across the country. Baripada has its own railhead – the Baripada Railway Station – which is known to be one of the oldest railheads in Orissa.
