During the festival season of Savan and Mela’s, the city is filled with people everywhere. Travelling within Rishikesh is an interesting affair. You can walk, trek, rock climb or take a cab.         The city of Rishikesh is well connected to all major cities and other places through roadways. Many see this place as a great weekend gateway from Dehradun and Delhi. One of the most preferred ways to get here is by road. There are many cab services available from different parts of the country to Rishikesh. Travelling in the luxury of your private car also makes for a great road trip.
 
Many buses services are accessible to Rishikesh from Delhi, Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar, Agra. It takes up to 5 – 7 hours from Delhi to Rishikesh depending majorly on traffic. It is advisable to start the journey around 3 am or 4 am, to avoid traffic and cut down on spending too many hours stuck on the road.

        Rishikesh has a railway station of its own but there are hardly any trains coming in here. Therefore, the more viable rail option is the Haridwar railway station. It is about 25 kms away from the city of Rishikesh. Haridwar railway station receives trains from all major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad, Rajasthan, Amritsar. Just outside the station, one can find rickshaws or cabs that take you into the city.

        There are no airports in Rishikesh - the nearest airport is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport, located about 35 kms away. It is a domestic airport with flights coming in from Lucknow and Delhi. Air India, Spice Jet, Jet Airways are few of the airlines flying to Dehradun.
