We spent long hours on the road together, yet he never showed stress, no matter how chaotic the traffic was—always patient, always smiling. Without a doubt, he was the best driver we had on the tour. During our trip, we visited Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra, Orchha, Khajuraho, and Kathmandu—all fascinating places, rich in history and culture. A word of advice for future travelers: whenever possible, opt for flights between destinations. The roads in India can be unpredictable and travel times long, so flying would have been a more comfortable option. The great thing is that the driver can transport your large luggage while you travel with just a carry-on, making everything smoother. Another important tip—especially in India—is to discuss shopping stops with your guide at the beginning of each day. Guides often include visits to stores where they likely receive a commission, and sometimes, they may rush through historical sites to get to these shops. When we were finally discharged, he took my call at 4 AM and immediately arranged for our driver to pick us up. India was truly an incredible experience! "The Deccan Odyssey" train tour departed from New Delhi and ended in Mumbai (Bombay). We saw so much in such a short amount of time! The meals served onboard the train were 5-star delicious! The only downside was getting used to sleeping on the train with its rocking and quirky sounds, but that was far outweighed by everything we got to see and experience each day of the tour. It was totally worth the expense, an all-inclusive dream!
