By Air:

Pakyong Airport in Gangtok is the closest airport from Rinchenpong; however, it currently only operates flights to and from Guwahati and Kolkata. Tourists can opt for the next nearest airport in Bagdogra, West Bengal. It is 130 km away from Rinchenpong, which is easily accessible via buses and cabs available outside the airport.

 

By Rail:

New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is the closest railhead from Rinchenpong, and is located about 123 km away. There are buses and trains available outside the station to take tourists to Rinchenpong directly. Visitors with pre-booked accommodation in Rinchenpong may have pickup services available to them from their respective hotels and resorts.

 

By Road: 

Rinchenpong is accessible via road from Siliguri and major cities within Sikkim like Gangtok, both of which are located around 120 km away. Buses, taxis and shared jeeps can be availed from each of these places to reach Rinchenpong via Jorethang. The road from Jorethang goes uphill to Soreng, continuing north to Kaluk. From here, Rinchenpong is just 3 km away.

Summer (March – September):

For those who plan to combine their visit to Rinchenpong with a trip to Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, the blossom season peaks during the months of March and April. The rest of the summer months witness an average temperature range of 10ᴼC-25ᴼC, with the monsoons picking up in the month of July and August.

 

Winter (October – February): 

The best time to visit Rinchenpong is during the winters. With an average temperature of -2ᴼC-11ᴼC during the peak winter months of December and January, Rinchenpong sees great weather.
