By Air:

Pantnagar Airport is the neighboring airport to Ranikhet, located some 115 km away. Numerous taxi and bus options to Ranikhet are available from Pantnagar Airport. There are around 1 daily and 4 weekly flights to Delhi from the airport.

 

By Road:

Ranikhet has well linked motorways to most North Indian cities in the Uttarkhand area. Delhi is about 360 km away and can be made a hub for road trips to Ranikhet. 

 

By Rail:

Kathgodam is the bordering station to Ranikhet, situated 75 km away. The station is well-connected via railway networks to majority of the major cities in and around Uttarakhand.

Winter (September – February):

Ranikhet can get very cold in the winter season, with temperatures ranging as low as -3° C and not going higher than 15° C. This is not the best time to visit as you won't be able to explore all the sceneries of the hill station. 

 

Summer (March – July):

This is by far the best time to visit Ranikhet. The temperatures average at a pleasant 10 to 27°C. This is the ideal time for sightseeing, trekking, and picnics for tourists and families of all ages.

 

Monsoon (July – August):

The region starts experiencing thunder storms and heavy showers throughout these months. The temperature stays between 22 to 29°C. The hilly roads are prone to landslide and tricky to manoeuvre so this is not a recommended time to visit.

Jhula Devi Temple:

Built in the 8th century, the Jhula Devi Temple draws thousands of pilgrims every year. Devotees come to this place of worship which is dedicated to Goddess Durga. 

 

Enjoying Ashiyana Park:

Also known as Deodhar Udhyan for its dense woodlands surrounding the park, Ashiyana has scenic views of the Himalayas. This is a great place for picnics and makes for a wonderful experience.

 

Walk through Chaubatia Gardens:

Located 1800 meters above sea-level, it is a haven for serenity and peace. Walking through apple and plum orchards, visitors can get picturesque views of the Himalayas from Chaubatia gardens. 

 

Explore the Bhalu Dam:

The Bhalu Dam offers stunning views of the Himalayan mountain ranges and unique species of birds that live in the area.

Zaroori Bazaar and Ranikhet's Sadar Bazaar are the two major shopping spots located side by side. There are a vast number of jewellers selling everything from jewellery to metallic images and idols of Indian Gods and Goddesses. Sadar Bazaar sells daily produce and other everyday items.
