Summer (March - June):
The summer season in Kurnool and neighboring regions can be extremely difficult sometimes. The season begins in March and remains active until it starts raining in June. Monsoon (July - November):
The city of Kurnool receives rainfall from two phases of monsoon. This enormous sanctuary is home to a large number of deer and blackbucks. Besides, jungle cats, jackals, bonnet macaques, foxes, and sloth bears can also be spotted. One of the last things to do in Kurnool is to visit the heritage site of Belum Caves situated at a distance of 110 km from Kurnool city center. These majestic caves are 3230 meters long and have fresh-water galleries, long passages, siphons, and spacious chambers. At the entrance of the cave, you'll spot the deepest point of caves that is at 120 feet from the entrance level. Studies have revealed that long-term erosion of limestone deposits in the area by the Chitravati river led to the formation of the caves millions of years ago. The major attraction of the site is the huge Buddha statue near the cave and many Buddhist monks used this place to meditate and attain salvation.
