By Air:
The Florence Airport (FLR) is situated in Peretola, which is on the outskirts of Florence. This airport, also known as the Amerigo Vespucci is 4 km away from the center of the city and is the most convenient way to get to Florence from any part of the country or from Europe. Once you reach the airport, you can take a cab or a shuttle bus to reach the city.
By Road:
If you are coming from Northern Italy, you can drive down the A1 autostrada that passes through Bologna and then through Florence. The A12 and A11 autostrada can be taken if you are driving from the French Coast towards Florence.
By Rail:
One of the major train stations in Florence is the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station, located right in the middle of the city. You can easily reach Florence from any part of Europe, using this railway station. The Firenze Campo di Marte is another prime railway station along with many other small ones that make it convenient for tourists to reach Florence.
Getting Around:
Getting around in Florence is easy due to the popularity of the place. You can move around the city by using cabs or you can even think of driving a rental car. If you are on a tight budget, the best way to get around is to use the public transportation run by the Azienda Trasporti Area Fiorentina (ATAF).

Spring (March-May):
One of the best times to visit Florence is during spring which last from March to May. The temperatures during this season rise to 24°C (75.2°F) and drops to 17°C (62.6°F) in the night and is accompanied by light showers. The beautiful sceneries of green meadows and blossoming flowers make it a great place to visit during this season.
Summer (June-August):
Summers in Florence are moderately hot with temperatures ranging from 17°C (62.6°F) to 31°C (87.8°F). There is not much rain during this time and the sun is seen for a good thirteen hours or so during the day. July is the hottest month in the city and august sees a few thunderstorms accompanied by rain.
Autumn (September-November):
Stretching from September to November, the temperature during autumn ranges from 10°C (50°F) to 28°C (82.4°F) and sees a good amount of rainfall and also quite a few thunderstorms. While September is still a bit warm, October and November starts to get rainy and cold. Nevertheless, the beauty of the city is intact; in fact it amplifies during this season.
Winter (December-February):
The autumn season brings in the cold and by December, the winter finally comes in. The months succeeding after that until February, are the coldest in Florence. Temperatures range from 3°C (37.4°F) to 12°C (53.6°F) with only five hours of sunshine during the day.
